It’s good to talk
Now firmly established as a yearly fixture in the design calendar, the D&AD Festival is a three-day creative spectacular celebrating the world’s best in craft, creativity and culture. As has become traditional, the 2019 Festival was hosted at The Old Truman Brewery, London. Joining speakers including Lauren Laverne, Rankin and Danny Boyle, Baxter & Bailey co-founder and Creative Director Matt Baxter took to the Masterclass Stage on the final day of the festival. Titled Beat the bullsh*t: finding creative clarity, the talk was a two-hander, delivered in collaboration with our regular writing partner Kate Van Der Borgh. In the session, Matt and Kate aimed to define exactly what is meant by ‘brand bullsh*t’, before exploring why they think it’s a barrier in our industry, and showing how we can all cut the confusion and find the creative clarity that produces outstanding work. The sell-out 90 minute session was part talk and part interactive workshop of writing/thinking activities and was, by all accounts, a smash hit. No sh*t.
