Context
There’s a lovely term to describe Glass Canvas’ area of expertise: the unbuilt environment. Using their unique combination of architectural training, digital innovation and artistic vision, Glass Canvas work with their clients – architects, interior designers and developers – to visualise buildings that haven’t been built yet. For over 15 years they have been creating jaw-dropping CGI visuals, animated fly-throughs and VR simulations.
Solution
The notion of the ‘unbuilt environment’ sits at the heart of our brand identity for Glass Canvas. From an intentionally incomplete, just-visible logotype to ephemeral graphic shapes appearing from nothing, it’s an identity about subtly shifting visual landscapes. Top level messaging by Kate van der Borgh also plays on the concept, helping to create a feeling on untapped possibilities and unbuilt places and spaces.
Not only were we highly satisfied with the rebranding that Baxter & Bailey produced for us, but we also had a lot of fun working through the workshops and processes to get there.
Impact
The new brand strategy and identity we developed for Glass Canvas helped to cement their standing as a major player in the sector and was launched at London’s House of Illustration gallery. Since then the business has expanded, with a second studio now running in Sheffield.
Special Thanks
Special thanks to Glass Canvas Directors Andrew and Bill for entrusting us to help evolve their business, ten years into its history. And to our creative collaborators Kate Van der Borgh – for the brilliant wordsmithery – and Alys Tomlinson – for amazing photography.
