Nomad
Brave and pioneering music needs a brave and pioneering identity.
Contemporary classical music is hard to define, often shifting its boundaries, styles and influences. So it felt right to deliver an ever-shifting identity for this innovative contemporary classical label.

Context
Galya Bisengalieva is a Kazakh-British violinist, improviser, collaborator and leader of the London Contemporary Orchestra. The talented and innovative young musician has conceived and launched a new contemporary classical music imprint, Nomad Music Productions. Nomad’s ambition is to methodically broaden the parameters of contemporary classical music. Its releases are rooted in a deep knowledge of the classics but not bound by them, making use of electronics and technology as well as unconventional collaborations.
It’s been a real pleasure working with Baxter & Bailey on finding Nomad’s brand identity and vinyl packaging design. There is so much music being released at the moment and it’s really important for new releases to stand out from the crowd on streaming services and vinyl shops. I feel we have achieved this with the first three releases and can’t wait to see what the team come up with next.
Solution
Galya approached us to help launch the label. To do so, we took Nomad’s genre-busting approach to heart, creating a fluid and shape shifting identity, centred around a truly ‘nomadic’ logotype which roams freely across digital screens and printed surfaces. The system we designed for Nomad’s digital and physical music releases ensures that every new output is accompanied by a new, unique iteration of the typographic identity.
Impact
From their very first sell-out release, Nomad’s ever shifting identity has encompassed a wide and genre-hopping range of styles and modes of music.
