We have carried out investigations into Quality Assurance schemes, including those which follow the recommendations of BS 5750 and BS. EN. ISO 9001 and we have concluded that these sorts of systems are inappropriate for our activities. We consider that quality assurance in our field is best achieved by employing and developing excellent staff, adopting a clear and simple organisation structure and proper supervision of design work, with formal reviews at key stages of the process.
Our design and digital team are a close-knit group directly supervised by directors and project directors. We achieve high quality through continuous review and supervision of work throughout the design process. All key roles are fulfilled by permanent staff, most of whom stay with us for a long time.
Years of training and practical experience working with us provide the most reliable assurance that work will be carried out correctly the first time.
We have developed a studio manual for administrative and computer procedures, which standardises systems for controlling documents as they arrive and leave the studio. All design and digital work is produced using various password protected subscription software systems. A network using ethernet and file servers is in operation with local, off-site and cloud based twice-daily back-ups in place. The system has been running efficiently for several years and the business adopts quality assurance and back-up procedures that have met all our clients’ requirements.
This is the quality assurance policy of Baxter & Bailey Limited
Quality and excellence within our work and especially our designers and developers is a priority. In order to achieve this:
- Each project is assigned a team with appropriate experience and skills by the Directors. There will be a clear reporting structure up to Director level.
- Each project has a Project Plan, incorporating design and technical criteria that is issued to clients. The Project Plan forms a single point of reference for all information about the project.
- Design and digital work is reviewed at every key stage by appropriate senior members of staff not directly involved in the design.
- Our Client Services Director monitors time and fees spent for each job.
- Baxter & Bailey employs a Finance & Operations Officer who ensures that accounts and supporting documentation are handled correctly.
- Baxter & Bailey uses a standard filing template and file naming system to enable easy access to audit trails, investigation of key decision-making on projects and retrieval of information.
- All staff receive personal development reviews annually, and participate in in-house and external training.
- Information is made available to all staff via our studio server.
- Baxter & Bailey maintains relationships with various specialist consultants who provide input when required. The need for specialist involvement is considered as part of the design reviews.
